⚠️ TWA IJEN CRATER CLOSURE INFORMATION 2026

TWA Ijen Crater will be temporarily closed for tourism activities during the routine Ijen Rijik program as part of environmental conservation and area cleaning activities.

  • 02 October 2026
  • 06 November 2026
  • 04 December 2026

Outside the schedule above, the area may also be closed at any time depending on weather conditions, volcanic activity, field conditions, or official management policies.

🌋 Area Details

Ijen Crater Nature Tourism Park (TWA Kawah Ijen) is one of the conservation areas managed by the East Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA East Java).

Administratively, the area is located across two regencies:

  • Banyuwangi Regency (Tamansari Village, Licin District)
  • Bondowoso Regency (Kalianyar Village, Ijen District)

The conservation area covers approximately 306.330 hectares.

Main attractions of TWA Ijen Crater include:

  • The beautiful turquoise-colored crater lake
  • One of the most acidic crater lakes in the world
  • Sunrise views from the summit area
  • Traditional sulfur mining activities
  • Panoramic views of Mount Ranti and Mount Raung
  • The stunning mountainous landscape of the Ijen area

🎫 AyoKeTamanNasional Platform Trial

Trial implementation for entrance ticket booking through the AyoKeTamanNasional platform applies to:

  • Visit dates starting from: 18 May 2026
  • Ticket purchases starting from: 13 May 2026

During the trial period, ticket booking through the previous application will still be available until the new platform is fully implemented.

🎁 Trial Promotion

The first 25 visitors who purchase TWA Ijen Crater entrance tickets through the AyoKeTamanNasional platform will receive souvenirs from BBKSDA East Java.

📋 Hiking Requirements

  • Visitors must be in good physical and mental condition.
  • Visitors are required to bring and show a valid health certificate issued no more than 3 days before the visit date.
  • Visitors with a history of heart disease, asthma, respiratory infections, or breathing disorders are not recommended to hike.
  • Please ensure booking data matches official identification documents (ID Card/Passport).
  • Visitors are required to use personal safety equipment such as anti-slip shoes, warm jackets, and masks.
